About Me

I am an associate in Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP's Competition and EU Regulatory Law Group.

I have a keen interest in sports law and have experience in advising on Premier League, Football League and UEFA rule compliance and Premier League broadcasting issues. I write various articles for competition, media and sports law journals. These include The World Sports Law Report, The Entertainment Law, Sport Business, and The Entertainment and Sports Law Journal.

l have contributed to the following publications. Topics include:

  • The Premier League's exclusive and collective television deals;
  • Premier League Rules and Regulations; and
  • Listed sporting events.

I have delivered papers on European football broadcasting rights, multiple club ownership, European competition law issues relating to broadcasts outside an exclusive territory and third party ownership rights issues stemming from the Tevez decision.

I am the editor of a monthly legal football column called On the Ball at FootballAid.com which I co-author with various lawyers at Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP. On the Ball is a more informal take on legal issues in the football industry. Articles include Football and Drugs, Compensation for Football Injuries, Broadcasting Auctions, and the Transfer Window. I have lectured at Birkbeck University on the interplay between football, broadcasting and EC competition law as well as players rights in the EC in the field of football. All power point presentations of my lectures are available here.
